Rapid advances in technology bring us ever new possibilities for services and communication. As more and more (sensitive) data becomes available online in a networked economy, the risk of digital abuse rises quickly.

Old, well known errors crop up again and again in new technologies and new security bugs are discovered every day; online privacy and online surveillance are diametrically opposed. Even so, millions of people "surf the web" with infected web browsers every day.

The programme committee for the NLUUG Spring Conference 2008 is soliciting submissions from speakers with a "good story" on security issues.

Possible topics include:

The conference can offer both lectures and tutorials. In a lecture, the lecturer presents his topic in about 40 minutes for his audience. A tutorial can last up to three hours and explains the use of a tool or technique to a selected audience. If you have an interesting topic for a lecture or tutorial, please send in an abstract before December 31, 2007. These will then be judged by the program committee. Abstracts can only be submitted via the web: http://www.nluug.nl/cgi-bin/vj2008-abstract-en Selected speakers have to submit a paper before March 11, 2008, which will be included in the conference proceedings. The papers will also be published on the NLUUG web site after the conference.

Although the main language at the conference is Dutch, we welcome English lectures and tutorials.
