Tonny Bastiaans: AIX keeping the old with the new using versioned WPARs

Abstract

AIX is currently on version 7.1. However, a lot of applications or environments are not that far (yet). With versioned WPAR's (AIX6 Workload Partitions) you can take benefit of the new AIX 7.1, while keeping the old applications running on the older versions of AIX. This presentation will explain how WPAR's work and how to take benefit in your environment.

Biografie

Tonny Bastiaans begon zijn IBM-carriere ruim 13 jaar geleden als hardware-techneut voor (toen nog) de RS6000. Na het pure technische werk maakte hij de overstap naar de sales-organisatie van IBM, echter altijd met de focus op techniek, eerst als technical pre-sales en de laatste 1,5 jaar als Product Manager voor de Power Systems.
