device-mapper and LVM

Abstract

I shall offer a detailed overview of some of our current and future development work. Topics, amongst others, will include:
  • the integration of LVM and device-mapper with udev;
  • recent work to improve speed and performance of the command line tools;
  • how and why we are supporting I/O barriers in the kernel;
  • planned improvements to our snapshot support.

Biography

Alasdair Kergon has worked on linux logical volume management since joining Sistina Software in 2001. Now employed by Red Hat in the UK, he is responsible for the development and maintenance of LVM2 and device-mapper.
