NLUUG Spring Conference 2013

Open Clouds
May 16, 2013
Meeting plaza Maarssen
Planetenbaan 100
3606AK Maarssen

Cloud computing has gone beyond the hype. Many cloud providers use open source software to offer their services, and actively contribute to open source. Defined as "a style of computing in which scalable and elastic IT-related capabilities are provided 'as a service' to external customers using Internet technologies", it requires a new way of development and administration.

The theme of the NLUUG Spring conference will be “Open Clouds”. During this day we expect to hear how cloud services are experienced in practice, and how 'big data' applications are used there. Modern cloud platforms like OpenStack will be a subject, but also the question how to migrate legacy applications to the cloud, how to handle privacy and security, and why a cloud is not always the best solution.

Call for Abstracts

For this conference, the NLUUG is looking for talks. They could be about, but be not confined to:

  • IaaS (Infrastructure as a Service)
    • Virtualization (xen, kmv, ...)
    • Deployment of systems
    • Scaling platforms (OpenStack, Eucalyptus, Heroku, CloudFoundry, Nodester...)
  • PaaS (Platform as a Service)
    • MapReduce, Hadoop, HBase and others
    • Cloud APIs
    • Google App Engine
  • SaaS (Software as a Service)
    • Mail, VOiP, messaging services
    • Backup, synchronization
    • Logstash, Juju
    • CRM, office suites
    • Migrating legacy applications to the cloud

Decisions on the talks will be elected by a committee, which you could be a member of. Feel free to ask for more information, or to send us your submissions or ideas to pc-vj2013@nluug.nl

Do not wait until we ask you to give a talk, but volunteer to make the spring conference into a success! Send an email to pc-vj2013@nluug.nl with your idea or abstract.
