CORBA and Unix, a framework for the future

The advent of object oriented technology is currently revolutionising the world of software development. A standard approach to this technology has now arrived with the Object Management Group's Common Object Request Broker Architecture (CORBA).

CORBA is more than just an API for developing distributed O-O software, it is a framework which can be used at all levels of technology distribution, from new applications to existing corporate legacy systems (Unix and otherwise).

This paper will explore how CORBA can be used as an application integration framework, encapsulating low-level networking code to enable objects to cooperate without regard for network protocols, underlying hardware, or even underlying operating systems.
